Professor Penguin

From its origins as the one man project of Jonny Abraham, Professor Penguin has now grown into an exciting collective of nine young musicians who are enjoying great success on the live circuit in London.

The group have enticed audiences with their hugely dynamic and high energy shows with a sound that combines the forward thinking innovation of bands such as Radiohead with a depth of sound comparable to that of The National, whilst maintaining a melodic sensitivity reminiscent of Nick Drake's “Five Leaves Left”.

With the impending release of “Planes” in 2012, the leading single from the album, “Pilot” has already been getting a great response. Described by Brian Eno as “such a beautiful piece” the song was first aired on his BBC 6 Music, Radcliffe & Maconie appearance earlier this year. Professor Penguin have also enjoyed plays on Lauren Laverne's BBC 6 Music, Nick Grimshaw's BBC Radio One, John Kennedy's XFM (Xposure Big One), Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 Music and Gary Crowley's BBC London radio shows in recent months.
